Long Article or Short Article – Which One Is Best?

Long article or short article, it all depends on how much information you are planning to give and how much is enough for your readers. However, both have their pros; some prefer long articles because they are favored by search engines and some prefer short articles because they are easy to read and to the point.

Know your purpose:

Every writer has a purpose when writing an article for a blog or website. It’s not about getting recommended by search engines, rather it’s about the quality of the information you want to put out. Your purpose would be to make your audience like your content so that they stay longer on your site and keep coming back for more.

You don’t have to worry about search engines, as soon as your target audience starts liking your articles and sharing them on social media, it will automatically boost your site’s chances of getting on the rankings of search engines.

Why are longer articles better?

Writing a long content is not always better, but it does help in terms of search engines. A long article with good content and a high density in keywords can help boost your chances to be in the top rankings of search engines and so more chance of reaching more people. Keeping the article long will keep people on your blog for a longer period of time thus reducing bounce rate statistics.

However, writing a long boring content with unnecessary information won’t help you; instead, you will lose viewers and reduce your chances of getting in the rankings.

Why are short articles better?

It’s more beneficial if writers prefer quality over quantity. Short articles are easy to write due to narrow and specific details. Nowadays it’s said that people have short attention spans so it’s better to write short articles which they can go through easily and quickly without them exiting before even getting to the bottom of the page.

If you write an article of more than 3000 words, people will only read the first 1000 words or maybe less so why not write short articles instead. However, there are less chances that it will help in the search engines, but now search engines don’t look for long articles rather consider those that have relevant content only.

Why doesn’t word limit matter?

It’s important to understand that long or short posts do not matter and there are other things that should be considered too.

  • Your article should be unique so try adding videos, images, quizzes along with the text.
  • There is no point in writing a good article or post if there is no promotion for it.
  • Google favors articles that contain links to authority articles, and in return, it will attract links from other blogs too.

Now you know the pros and cons of writing a long or short article, but you can benefit both ways by linking other pages that have details or summaries.
